DYK..that tomorrow, Saturn's rings will disappear from our view? Check this for more info. Fascinating?

Anyways, I have nothing to say today. So I wanna leave you with my new favorite YouTube Channel. It's that of Tony-winner Alice Ripley, currently starring in the brilliant Broadway musical, Next to Normal. She's just...fantastically crazily the best artist out there in all possible ways. Just watch her videos. Is there anyone like her in the world?? Did anyone else see her Tony speech and just...stare in awe at this amazing woman? Please, check out her channel, and fall in love with Alice Ripley!

This my favorite video. It's now my motto.

Breathe and smile with Alice Ripley, everyone.

DYK..that from July 1 to 7, Austin, MN celebrates SPAM Jam, a festival for SPAM canned meat? A festival for SPAM. Seriously!

Why mention this? Because I love fried SPAM. It's unhealthy, looks frightening, and I'm not sure what's in it, but I love it. Fry it up, and it rocks. Try it. I'm eating it right now!

So I'm wondering, what are some people's favorite "weird" food? Another one of mine is Chicken in a Biskit. Has anyone else ever had it? They're a great, unhealthy snack, but not so great during rehearsals because of how much salt there is. Dries your mouth up. But otherwise, I love 'em.

Update on Dailybooth, iSight finally works! Yay! Check out my first directly-snapped picture! http://dailybooth.com/seanchang.

Other than that, it's a slow, HOT Sunday.

Breathe and smile, all,

Spring Awakening Promo-Post

Hope your summers awesome, miss you all a lot ! But I want to take a moment to remind you that Spring Awakening is in town, meaning in Chicago!

Spring Awakening, for those that don't know, is a new musical based on Frank Wedekind's 19th century play, Spring Awakening, that explores the journey from childhood to adulthood set in 19th century Germany. The musical is filled with power, passion, and oh so much teenage angst.

With a ROCKIN score by Duncan Sheik and directed by Michael Mayer (directing an upcoming rock musical with the music of Green Day's American Idiot), this musical is seriously unlike anything you've seen before. Not even like Rent. When it opened on Broadway in 2007, it won a total of 11 Tony-Awards, including Best Musical, Best Director, Best Original Score, and Best Featured Actor. This is a MUST-SEE this summer!

Here's the website for more info:
http://www.springawakening.com/home.php

Here are some ways to buy tickets:

1. Visit http://www.broadwayinchicago.com/shows_dyn.php?cmd=display_current&display_showtag=spring09,
and click "Purchase Tickets."

2. Visit any Broadway in Chicago theatres' box offices, hours are usually 10AM-6 PM...(Ford Center Oriental Theatre is at 24 W Randolph, next Borders on State St.)

3. Call Broadway in Chicago's new ticket hotline at 800-775-2000.

4. Get $25 Student Rush tickets the day of performance 2 hrs prior to the performance! Visit the box office just 2 hrs before the show with your student ID and $25 cash for this awesome deal!

Also, please check this for a Parental Advisory, as the show does include some mature themes, sexual situations, and partial nudity.

Spring Awakening is only going to be here from August 4-16th. I really hope you don't miss this awesome show.

This stop on the 1st National tour is also a very sad one, as it will be the last stop for many of the cast members who have been with the tour since its start. Don't miss the chance to see this insanely talented cast before they leave for school (like some of you)!

If you have ANY questions at all, do not hesitate to comment or @reply me (twitter.com/seanchang_) for more info. I hope you all get a chance (or more than one) to see Spring Awakening here in Chicago! It's going to be very exciting...

Breathe and smile!

PS. For anyone interested, the cast will be at the Apple Store on Michigan Ave on Tuesday, August 11th, at 5 PM for a very special concert and possible Q&A.

DYK...that Woolworth's is now Foot Locker?

The hot weather's here, but luckily I've been indoors all day. Where? At Steppenwolf Theatre Co. Woke up extra early this Saturday morning (9 AM...yep) and was at Steppenwolf for a reading of a new play by playwright Laura Schellhardt called "Auctioning the Ainsleys"...and honestly, for a "new play," this was brills. I felt this show, with just a few edits, could be picked up by a theatre company very soon...Laura Schellhardt...Auctioning the Ainsleys...Keep an eye out for this one!

I also had the chance to see "Sex with Strangers," a new play by Laura Eason, directed by Jessica Thebus, and one of the three plays in Steppenwolf's 2009 First Look Repertory of New Work. Again...this is one show that I know is going to be picked up soon. With just a two-person cast of Stephen Louis Grush and Amy J. Carle, this play, from its first reading back in June, was one that I felt could very well be on the Steppenwolf Mainstage. I can not wait to see this show get the full production it deserves.

Part of the play is about the guy's, Ethan's, blog turned book, sort of like a Julie and Julia thing, but only instead of cooking and life, his blog/book deals with his sexcapades with random women at bars. And with this blog, and another one, started by the girl, Olivia, sparks the question of who we really know/how much we really know about people nowadays...And I thought that was a very interesting subject to tackle in a play. Especially since right before the show started, my 3 friends and I were all on our phones, texting and checking Facebook. But thinking about it, and going through your friends list on Facebook or your followers on Twitter, how many people are really close to you, besides your family? You can have over 500 friends on Facebook and over a million followers on Twitter, but what does that mean for you? That people are interested in you, right? But really, how many people do you really know? Does meeting someone once with a quick, "Oh Hi! Your performance was awesome!" count as that person being your "friend" now? I definitely know people who think so...but it's weird, isn't it? We can follow all these people, be "friends" with them, but really know nothing about them, besides the fact that they're folding a towel or walking their dog. Even with a blog, how do you know the blogger is not making their identity up, as Olivia does in the play to protect her name from possible critics? How do you know if what someone posts on their blog is at all true, or if everything they post is just part of an act, creating who they want you to see them as? You really don't, do you? You can never know what's really going through someone's mind, and I think the internet has just made it harder for people to really know each other. Do you? I want to get to know people! I know people, myself included, who are afraid to call people now. Actually afraid, and who'd rather email or text someone because of its impersonal nature. It's like with emailing, you're not really talking to that person...no one's on the other end of the conversation, and you don't really have to let them see how you really feel, nor do they have to really let you know how they truly feel about whatever it is you're talking about. With a phone conversation, you get to hear the other person's immediate reaction, and with a face-to-face convo, you can actually SEE his/her reaction, but with an email convo, that person can wait days or months to formulate a response. Everything just seems so impersonal and people seem so disconnected from each other now. I don't know, what do you think, internet strangers?

Moving on, I'm still having trouble with my Dailybooth account. The site's a bit slow, but the main problem is I can't take any pictures! Anyone else using a Mac having a problem? iSight does not turn on even when I "allow" it to. I was up until 3:30AM this morning trying to take one picture. Didn't work.

Try again soon, but in the meantime,

DYK...rabbits sleep with their eyes open?

Also, I just signed up for Dailybooth. Come follow me at http://dailybooth.com/seanchang
I'm joining at 3 AM the morning of their revamping, so I haven't been able to snap a pic yet. But they're coming! Thanks to @TheCassAttack for informing me on Dailybooth. Very exciting.

I am struggling very hard to type this out without making any typos because it is 3:30 AM right now and I've been up for 18 hours. And have to get up in 5 hours to attend a new play reading at Steppenwolf Theatre Co. I really don't know why I'm up...Dailybooth!! How do people pull all-nighters? Seriously, I've done it maybe once successfully, and that was years ago. Coffee? Only thing I drink is a vanilla latte, and that usually gets me sick, not awake. Has anyone ever had Tim Horton's vanilla latte? WAY better than Starbucks, honestly. Cannot wait for Tim Horton's take over in the US. I'm rambling. What was I talking about? Dailybooth? Vanilla Latte? Canadian coffee shops?

Sigh, more to come.

Breathe and smile, it's the weekend!

PS. 2 updated in 1 month. I'm making progress already!

8.8.09

Guess what? I haven't updated in 8 months. I told you I couldn't keep a blog alive! It's summer now, hopefully more time = more updating.

DYK...a 3rd grader was suspended for sniffing a Sharpie?

Remember how I told you I hate Summer? I guess I don't. I hate Hot Weather, not Summer. Because Summer 2009 has not been that hot at all...the first set of really hot days is coming up this weekend (90's-100s)...and this is the first time this summer. So can't really complain (yet). Remember to try to keep your AC's off as much as possible, and if you do turn them on, close all your windows.

News? I've adopted a dog, and her name's Kodi. She's a black Labrador-Retriever, 7 weeks old, and a hassle. But I love her. I don't love waking up 3-4 times in the night to take her out, and I don't love her puppy whines at night, or her accidents inside...but she's cute. We'll see how she grows...

Also planning my trip to NYC. Flying to NY for $10, seeing shows with Student Rush $26 tickets, and staying with family- an inexpensive vacay! 5 shows in 4 days under $200 total (Hair and David Cromer's Our Town are two I'm very excited about).

Here's a random picture, just for fun.
